CINCINNATI

I had a nice quick trip to Cincinnati and took a fast detour to the river and an old part of town.  I thought these birds were going to assault me, but they quickly settled down when they realized I didn't have any food.

This is the bridge that connects Kentucky to Ohio.  It's a very old (1865) suspension bridge.  I walked across it just so I could set foot in Ohio.

There was this odd little door next to a park.  It was maybe 4 feet tall.

It was a very nice park with a lovely view across the river.  It was a gloomy day with constant sprinkles.

Some interesting graffiti.

More interesting graffiti.

RUNNING WITH THE ADVENTURE DOGS

I often see people talking on cell phones when walking their dogs. They are basically ignoring their dog and missing a great opportunity to bond and witness the joy that dogs find in simple things like running. Dogs have an ability to jump into life with all fours and fully experience their surroundings. We should all be so carefree!

GREAT RIDE

I had a great ride this evening.  It was one of those rides where I was feeling no pain and it just felt good to go super hard ... and then go harder.  I haven't had a ride like this in at least a month and it felt great!  I was able to snap a couple of pics along the way with the sun setting behind the Flat Irons.

WEEKEND ADVENTURE PLANS

Well, it won't really be that much of an adventure. I'm taking the Fargo out on it's first organized ride ... a 92-mile Roubaix-style ride up in the mountains. It will be a mix of pavement and mostly gravel roads. I put a new chain on in preparation. There are a couple of reasons I enjoy putting a new chain on a bike. First, it means I have been riding, and that is always a rewarding feeling. Second, it makes the shifting so smooth a and quiet.
