BIG SKY COUNTRY

FILM vs DIGITAL

One interesting feature of film is that even though certain parts of a photo might be blown out and overexposed, the image is still mostly there.  For example, take the below picture.  The mountains and sky are fried. But, with some post processing you can bring that back and turn it into a much more usable picture.  With digital, once something is blown out, it is typically digitally gone.

GRIZZLY LAKE

Grizzly Lake is a hard one to get to. But is worth the trip.

BARNS

WALTER

Walter is a very funny little kitten.  She is not afraid of much and likes to sleep ... anywhere.

THE NEW BIKE

Meet the new Honey Badger by Spot .  It is a really fun bike to ride!  The steel frame is super lively and responsive on the climbs yet ridiculously smooth and compliant on the descents.  The crenellated down-tube mated to the machined tapered head-tube makes the front end nice and stiff so steering is precise!  The "animal leg" seat stays and TT-style  cutaway seat-tube give the back end the feel of suspension without the weight and bobbing. The Manitou Tower Pro fork is very plush and laterally stiff thanks to the 15mm thru-axle that is really easy and fast to use.  It's the best feeling fork I've ever ridden. The Crank Brothers bar, stem, seat post, pedals, and saddle are all bombproof and light.  The saddle is super comfortable for those all day epics. Should you actually need to slow down or stop the TRP Dash Carbon brakes will stop you on a dime and give you a nickel for change.  The adjustable reach and power knobs are easy to turn on the fly.

iPHONE CAMERA

I must say, for a camera in a phone the iPhone does pretty well.  I post processed this one just a little bit and it handled the light and dark pretty well.  The biggest thing the iPhone does not handle well are the really bright to not-so-bright transitions.

CAT ATTACK TACTICS

There are numerous ways that cats attack their prey.  Fortunately for us they are all hilarious.  For example .... The aerial attack: The Superman attack: The bashful attack: The shadow attack: (this one is also quite scary for the attacking kitten) The sneak attack: The charging zombie attack: The I come in peace attack: The holy crap, you're a lot bigger than I thought you were attack: Good oral health is important for kittens.  Don't forget to floss after eating your fuzzy rattling mouse: Be sure to click on these to view them larger so you can see the full ferociousness of the kitten claws and fangs.

NAHBS

The North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) was once again a great time.  With it being right here in Denver it made it very easy to get to.  The craftsmanship and creativity is always impressive.  It was fun to get to shot some of the bikes in the event, as it allowed me an up-close -nd-personal view of some of the bikes. Muse Cycles. REEB Speedhound Stijl Sycip This English Cycles bikepacking bike was one of my favorites.  I think if Darth Vader rode a bike this would be it.

CINCINNATI

I had a nice quick trip to Cincinnati and took a fast detour to the river and an old part of town.  I thought these birds were going to assault me, but they quickly settled down when they realized I didn't have any food. This is the bridge that connects Kentucky to Ohio.  It's a very old (1865) suspension bridge.  I walked across it just so I could set foot in Ohio.  There was this odd little door next to a park.  It was maybe 4 feet tall. It was a very nice park with a lovely view across the river.  It was a gloomy day with constant sprinkles. Some interesting graffiti. More interesting graffiti.
